Legendary Names Dion Neutra and Eames Demetrios on “Dishing the Dirt on Design” on the VoiceAmerica Radio Network

Dion Neutra speaks on controversial demolition of cyclorama building and more; Eames Demetrios talks about famous family and more, all on “Dishing the Dirt on Design” on VoiceAmerica
PHOENIX – Less than two weeks after the controversial demolition of the Richard Neutra-designed Cyclorama Building in Gettysburg, PA, Neutra’s son Dion Neutra will be a guest on VoiceAmerica Talk Radio Network’s “Dishing the Dirt on Design.” The program, which will also feature another legendary name in design, Eames Demetrios, will air on the VoiceAmerica Variety Channel ( www.voiceamerica.com/channel/246/voiceamerica-variety) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, Pacific Time.

“Dishing the Dirt on Design” hosts Eleanor Schrader Schapa and Ann Ascher, both renowned experts in the design field, will talk to Dion Neutra about the Cyclorama demolition – which he called “a tyranny of the minority visited upon the rest of the world” – as well as his own works, his famous father,

and his preservation efforts. Adding a sense of drama to the interview is the fact that it was recorded on March 1 as the Cyclorama building was being destroyed, despite widespread national efforts to save the major public work.

Dion Neutra, a Silverlake resident, has developed numbers of award-winning structures – educational, medical, civic, recreational, and residential. Born in 1926, the same year that his famous architect father formed his practice, he began his apprenticeship at the age of 11 at a drafting table in his father’s office. A cum laude graduate of USC with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, he became one of the youngest corporate members of the American Institute of Architects at age 24.

The other guest on the show, Eames Demetrios, of Los Angeles, comes from an equally famous family and is involved in numerous design and artistic projects, many of which are groundbreaking. He will talk about his famous grandparents, Charles and Ray Eames, his efforts to preserve the Eames House, and his intriguing project Kymaerica and Kcymaerxthaere, an alternate history of the world.

Eames Demetrios is the Director of the Eames Office, which communicates, preserves, and extends the work of his grandparents. His projects there include multimedia production, printed materials, exhibition design, and filmmaking. He has lectured in 39 countries on six continents on topics such as design, sustainability, and Kcymaerxthaere. Demetrios also curates the online DAS Film Fest.com, which features films on design, architecture, and sustainability.
