- Prior to becoming president and CEO of the national Epilepsy Foundation, Mr. Gattone was president and CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago..
- Has a long history with the epilepsy community that began when his son was diagnosed at the age of 4.

Has
educated thousands of people across the country about epilepsy and its impact
on families. He also has developed curriculum for educators on strategies for
building self-esteem and academic achievement in students with epilepsy, as
well as a curriculum for students to become better-educated about seizures and
epilepsy first aid.

Received
his bachelor's degree in marketing in 1981 from Bradley University in Peoria,
Ill., and his master's degree in education in 2000 from National Louis
University in Chicago.

Joyce
welcomes Warren Lammert, co-founder and chairman of the Epilepsy Therapy
Project (EPT). EPT is a non-profit organization whose mission is to
accelerate new therapies for people living with epilepsy and seizures, and the
parent organization of epilepsy.com. Among the topics discussed will be
its second annual “Shark Tank” Competition. ETP is inviting entries that
represent the most innovative new ideas in epilepsy treatment and care. The
winner of the 2013 Shark Tank Competition will receive national recognition and
a $100,000 cash award to support the development and commercialization of an
important new product, technology or therapeutic concept.
